In addition to reporting a crime, making a firearm enquiry, or reporting non emergency complaints, citizens are able to obtain various other services through the RCMP such as criminal records checks, fingerprints, vulnerable sector checks, police certificates, document verification, and restricted use operation permits (e.g. ATVs).
As part of their Annual Performance Plan (APP) process review, the detachment, on an annual basis (by April 1st), solicits input from local residents, stakeholders, community leaders (including Council) and organizations to capture the needs, concerns and issues of our community. While priorities such as traffic and youth are common amongst communities, the RCMP recognizes that each community has unique needs. As priorities can change rapidly, this information is used to ensure that the policing services provided by the detachment meet the demands of Sparwood citizens. In addition to seeking feedback for the APP, the detachment presents Council with quarterly statistical reports on crimes committed within Sparwood and how the strategies within the APP have helped to mitigate those offences. Copies of the quarterly reports are available as part of a Council meeting agenda or can be obtained by contacting the RCMP.
The Elk Valley Regional detachment office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm and is conveniently located at:
