New Garbage Collection Service Begins September 4

Starting September 4, the District will roll out changes to its curbside garbage collection services. All household garbage will now be collected from standard 242L bear-resistant carts which are scheduled to be delivered to residents the week of August 27.

Sparwood Heights Bins Relocated

Due to the earthworks that is currently underway for the outdoor multipurpose pad, the recycling bins and compost area in Sparwood Heights have been relocated.

Victoria Day Garbage Schedule Change

Please note that there will be NO GARBAGE PICKUP on the VICTORIA DAY STATUTORY HOLIDAY, Monday MAY 21st, 2018. 

Garbage that is normally picked up on the Monday will be picked up on Tuesday MAY 22nd, 2018.

Community Cleanup 2018

**UPDATE** Event date changed to May 6 due to snow still on trails and parks.

The District of Sparwood is challenging local clubs, workplaces, and families to come out on Sunday, May 6, from 10 am to 1pm, for our fifth annual Sparwood Community Cleanup to help clean up the garbage that has accumulated throughout the winter. Click here to see the event on Facebook.

Street Sweeping

The District of Sparwood’s spring street sweeping program is underway. The purpose of the program is to remove sanding material and debris that has accumulated on roads and boulevards from winter road maintenance.

Residential Spring Cleanup

Residential spring cleanup begins Tuesday May 22, 2018. Any person wishing to take advantage of this service is required to register at the District Office no later than Friday May 18th, 2018 and pay the required fee of $20.00.

Garbage Pickup - Easter Holiday Break

Due to the two statutory holidays, Good Friday and Easter Monday, there will be no garbage pickup scheduled. Garbage that would normally be picked up on Friday, March 30th will be picked up on Thursday, March 29th and garbage that would normally be picked up on Monday, April 2nd will be picked up on Tuesday, April 3rd.

BC Family Day Garbage Pickup

Please note that there will be no garbage pickup on the BC Family Day statutory holiday - Monday, February 12th, 2018. Garbage that is normally picked up on the Monday will instead be picked up on Tuesday, February 13th, 2018.

Remembrance Day Garbage Pick Up

Please take note that there will be no garbage pickup on Friday, November 10, 2017, to observe the Remembrance Day statutory holiday. Garbage that is normally picked up on the Friday will be picked up on Thursday, November 9, 2017.

Thanksgiving Day Garbage Schedule

There will be no garbage pickup on Thanksgiving Day, Monday October 9th, 2017. Garbage that is normally picked up on the Monday will be picked up on Tuesday, October 10th, 2017.

Residential Spring Cleanup

It's that time of year again where you can sign up to have one pickup truck load of refuse removed from your property!

Cost is $20 (seniors 65+ free) and the deadline to sign up is Friday, May 19th. Click for more details on what can and cannot be picked up. 

Illegal Dumping, it's a crime!

Dumping residential waste into commercial waste bins is not only unacceptable, it is ILLEGAL.  It is a safety and health hazard that spoils the environment and costs us all. Please dispose of your waste properly by taking it to the Transfer Station, located at 1001 Highway 3.
