The District of Sparwood has activated its Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) in support of the government of British Columbia’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 situation.
The EOC has been established to provide a central contact point of information and will allow the District to coordinate communication with many important external agencies, as well as plan and work collaboratively with local, regional and provincial efforts that are underway.
The District of Sparwood will be limiting access to the Main Office, and closing public access to Fire Hall #1 and #2 and the Public Works Department until further notice.
The District of Sparwood will be closing and suspending all activities at the Henry Volkmann Memorial Leisure Complex to the public as of Monday, March 16, until further notice. This includes the fitness centre, pool, curling rink, arena and all swimming lessons and classes. All special events taking place at the Leisure Centre within the near future, such as the Community Information and Registration Night, will also be cancelled until further notice.
A Special Meeting of Council will be taking place on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at 6:00 pm in the Conference Room at the Municipal Office, located at 136 Spruce Avenue.
