Have a great long weekend!
Effective at noon Mountain time on Thursday, July 26, 2018, campfires will be prohibited throughout the Southeast Fire Centre, including the District of Sparwood, to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety.
This campfire ban will remain in place until the public is otherwise notified.
The District of Sparwood has implemented a Category 2 open burn prohibition until further notice.
There has been a significant increase in mosquito complaints this year. Our mosquito control contractor is monitoring all the regular sites every week and there has been little evidence of any significant quantities of larvae at all in almost all of them.
Reminder that property taxes are due by July 4.
You can pay in person at 136 Spruce Avenue, online through your bank, or by mailing a cheque (ensure we receive the cheque before July 4 to avoid the penalty, note that post marks will not be accepted as proof of payment date).
Make sure to claim your Home Owner Grant, even if you cannot fully pay your taxes, by July 4 as after this date a 10% penalty will be added to all unpaid taxes from the current year.
