Council invites and encourages the public to attend and provide feedback that will assist Council in setting priorities for our community.

We are holding two workshops for the Livability Study and you’re invited! You can register for either of two workshops: an afternoon workshop on Feb. 19 or an evening workshop on Feb 20. These workshops will be deeper dives into some of the data we have begun collecting from the questionnaire and interviews, and are a way to tell us more about livability if you didn’t get to say everything you wanted to say in the questionnaire. The RDEK is currently reviewing its Solid Waste Management Plan (SWMP). They are asking for the public's input on how they use the current solid waste and recycling systems and what they'd like to see in the future. Survey deadline is February 25, 2019.

From January 15 - February 28, 2019 the District will be seeking resident, worker and visitor participation in engagement activities related to the livability study. Participate through an online survey, visit a pop-up office, attend a workshop or stop in at our booth at Winterfest!

The Community Initiatives and Affected Areas Programs are intended to be flexible and incorporate community-based funding decisions.
There is a new online application process for 2019. Applicants are encouraged to carefully read through the 2019 Application Guide for application information and instructions. The deadline to apply for the program is January 21, 2019 at 2:00 pm (MST).

BC Assessment will be sending out property assessment notices on December 31st. The value of your property on these notices are what your property taxes are based on.

Kevin Allen, Chief Election Officer for the District of Sparwood, declared, pursuant to section 97 of the Local Government Act, the following persons as candidates in the 2018 General Local and School Election.
Effective 4:00 pm September 14, 2018 campfires and fire pits with permits will once again be permitted within the District. Category 2 open fires and Category 3 open fires remain prohibited throughout the District.
