Emergency Management BC (EMBC) approved an extension of the 72-hour emergency social services assistance for the evacuees from Ponderosa Manor, building B, in Sparwood Heights. This extension will expire on August 15, 2018 at which time the Red Cross will step in and provide whatever assistance they are able to assist residents with their recovery.
The Reception Centre located at the Leisure Centre (367 Pine Avenue) will close this evening and re-open on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 8:00 am and officially close at 2:00 pm on Wednesday.
Volunteers from the Canadian Red Cross will be available to meet with individuals to complete individual needs assessments at the District Office this evening until approximately 7:00 pm and will be returning on Wednesday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. If you are not available to meet with the Red Cross during these times you are asked to contact the District of Sparwood's Emergency Program Coordinator, Michelle Martineau, at firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange an evening meeting.
