The ‘Balmer North Committee’ wants to honour these men, and all other coal miners that have lost their lives working at the historical mines at Corbin and Michel, and current mine sites of Coal Mountain, Elkview, Line Creek, Fording River and Greenhills. Sculptor, Nathan Scott, has been commissioned to create a life-sized bronze coal miner to commemorate their sacrifice.
In order to ensure the success of this very important fundraiser, we are seeking contributions to help offset the cost associated with the monument, memorial wall, ground works, and the event itself.
The District of Sparwood has budgeted $50,000 in both the 2016 and 2017 fiscal budget for the project. Generous donors like you are the key to ensuring the remaining funds can be acquired. We hope that we can count on your support to help bring this project to fruition.
Any questions can be directed to the committee at minersmemorialcommittee@sparwood.ca.
Donations of $30 or greater will be generate a tax receipt for income tax purposes.
We need your help in reviewing the list of names to be added to the memorial to ensure it is correct. Click the list below to enlarge it.
