Equipment

The Sparwood Fire Department currently maintains a fleet of nine vehicles, including three triple combination engines, one quint, one rescue unit, one crew/equipment vehicle, one support unit, a command vehicle, an antique fire truck — Old Red. There is also an emergency response trailer.

Light Tower

Engine 2 is the first-responding unit out of the North Hall to all fire calls.

Engine 3 is the primary engine unit responding from the Main Hall.

 

 LADDER 1

Ladder 1 responds from the main hall. It is generally the third unit to roll for any structure fires behind Engines 2 and 3.

 RESCUE 1

This unit carries our Holmatro rescue tool system, Rescue 42 TeleCrib strut kit, air bags, rope gear and additional hand and power tools. Rescue 1 is the first-out unit to all motor vehicle incidents and rescue operations.

Tender 1 serves as our Water Tender and responds to areas within the District without hydrants and to "Area A" - East Kootenay Regional District.

This unit responds with the on-call officer to all incidents.

2006 - 5'x8' Interstate

This unit carries a variety of spill response equipment and wildfire supplies such as hand tools, hoses and foam.

EV 3

1980 GMC Sierra Support Unit

EV-3 is the utility and cleanup unit. It carries post-fire security supplies and is equipped for extended stays for fire watch.
 

OLD RED

1961 International

Originally belonging to the Natal Fire Department, "Old Red" is now used for parades, community events and public relations functions.
