Business Startup & Licensing

The District of Sparwood is happy to offer assistance and information for businesses looking to start up in the region.

The first steps to developing a business within the District is to first obtain a business licence from the District Office. The term of a licence shall be one calendar year, with the exception of itinerant/transient sales or seasonal businesses which may be permitted a licence for six months, three months, one month or one day. All licences expire on December 31st, or sooner, in each year.

Fees for these licences are $80 for one year, $50 for six months, $30 for three months, $20 for one month and $10 for one day. Catalogue and direct sales licences are also required for a fee of $25.00 per year.

Students are not required to pay a fee for a licence but are encouraged to register their business with the District.
