Environment Canada has just issued a snowfall warning for the East Kootenay (including Cranbrook/Kimberley and Columbia Valley) and an Winter Storm Warning for the Elk Valley.
The Snowfall Warning has been issued due to a storm that is expected to arrive in the region tonight bringing heavy snow and strong northeasterly winds. Total snowfall amounts around 10 cm can be expected on Thursday. The snow will ease Thursday night as the system moves out of the region and weakens.
A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for the Elk Valley as heavy snow, strong winds and blowing snow are in the forecast, along with an expected accumulation of up to 25cm by tomorrow evening.
Road conditions are expected to be impacted due to the heavy snow and blowing snow, so drivers are urged to be prepared to adjust driving with changing road conditions.
