Student Employment Opportunity: Summer Parks and Greenbelt Workers

The District of Sparwood is looking for energetic and enthusiastic students who will be employed for the summer as parks and greenbelt workers beginning May 7, 2018 through to August 24, 2018. Rate of pay is in accordance with the current CUPE Local 2698 Collective Agreement.

All applications including cover letter, resume, and complete application package must be received by the District of Sparwood Municipal Office on or before 4:00 pm Thursday, March 29, 2018. The ‘hat’ draw will be conducted on Tuesday, April, 3, 2018. All successful applicants will be contacted following the draw. Applicants should be aware that work performance with the District of Sparwood will be considered for future employment.

Only students who have been enrolled on a full time basis during the 2018 Winter/Spring term and who are intending to return to school in the fall are eligible to apply for these positions. Although we accept applications from students attending high school, preference is given to those students attending post secondary.  Preference is also given to students who normally reside is Sparwood while not attending school. Student employment packages are available at the Municipal Office - 136 Spruce Avenue, the Sparwood Recreation Department - 367 Pine Avenue or on the District of Sparwood website here. Please note the proof of enrollment form must be signed by the school Registrar’s Office.

All successful applicants will be required to have the minimum of a valid Class 5 or Class 7N driver’s license.

Any eligible applications received after the closing date, will be automatically put on the bottom of the call list as well as any who are unable to start employment on May 7, 2018.
