Public Feedback on Cemetery Management Bylaw 1017

The District of Sparwood is seeking the public's feedback on Cemetery Management Bylaw 1017. The new bylaw, if adopted, will replace Rivercrest Cemetery Bylaw 877 and Elk Valley (Michel) Cemetery Operation and Maintenance Bylaw 831. Changes include the prohibition against pets being permitted in either cemetery, larger floral receptacles in Rivercrest Cemetery, regulations surrounding adornments at Rivercrest Cemetery, and updates to the fees and charges for both cemeteries.

Notice of amendment to Council Procedure Bylaw 1022, 2009

NOTICE is hereby given that Council will be considering adoption of Council Procedure Bylaw 1022, 2009, Amendment Bylaw 1212, 2017 at the October 16, 2017 regular meeting. This amendment proposes to change the inaugural meeting date from the first week of December to the first week of November.

Changes to Commercial & Multi-Family Garbage Pick-Up

Council will be considering allowing commercial businesses and multi-family developments to contract their own garbage pick-up at the September 5, 2017 regular meeting.

NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION: MIDDLETOWN CROSSING – HIGHWAY 3/43 INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS – BC HYDRO ACCESS TRAIL

Construction activities for the access road for relocation of the overhead powerlines will commence on July 5, 2017.

NOTICE: Alternative Approval Process for Lease Agreement with School District No. 5

The District of Sparwood has initiated an Alternate Approval Process, otherwise known as a counter-petition, to obtain elector approval to enter into a 10-Year Lease Agreement with School District #5 for 1351 Ponderosa Drive for the installation of a multi-use outdoor facility to replace the tennis and basketball courts located in the Cherrywood subdivision.

2016 Carbon Action Revenue Incentive Program (CARIP) Climate Action/Carbon Neutral Progress Survey

The District of Sparwood has completed the 2016 Climate Action Revenue Incentive Program (CARIP) Public Report as required by the Province of BC. The CARIP Report summarizes the actions taken in 2016 and those proposed for 2017 to reduce corporate and community‐wide energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and reports on progress towards achieving carbon neutrality.

Notice of Construction: Middletown Crossing

The second phase of the Middletown Highway 3 and Highway 43 Intersection Project will commence April 11, 2017 with tree clearing for access road construction for the relocation of overhead BC Hydro power lines.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Council of the District of Sparwood will at the Regular Meeting of April 18, 2017 consider a resolution to authorize the disposition of 141A Aspen Drive by way of a Lease Agreement, for the period of July 1, 2017, up to and including June 30, 2022.

2017-2021 Financial Plan Public Open House

If you live in Sparwood, you are invited to a Public Budget Consultation Meeting that will be held to discuss the District’s Financial Plan for the next five years on February 28 5-7 pm.

The Committee of the Whole meeting scheduled for Monday, January 30, 2017 at 1:00pm has been postponed until Monday, February 6, 2017 immediately following the Regular Meeting.
